Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it so vague?
It’s vague because the aims are to be a) broad and b) somewhat self-chosen, depending on participants in the first set of meetings. It is ‘mainly’ technology though, certainly at the beginning.
What levels (of learning/knowledge) will we support/work with/address?
To get the thing going we’ll start with some entry level talks and some programming lessons, almost certainly Python1. Then we’ll see what people are interested in.
Is it all ages?
We welcome adults to join us. Children may also join in if accompanied by a parent / guardian (or other responsible adult) until we work out safeguarding and DBS arrangements.
Is attending free?
Whilst it’s starting, yes. However, room hire, tea and biscuits cost money, so we’ll have to work out something if the whole project is sustainable. Later there will be a for-profit arm to sustain the free activities.
Is it daytime or evenings?
We’ll see. Depends on the people who attend.
Are there some online bits and sessions?
After a while, yes, via Moodle2 or Chamilo3 (incidentally Moodle was originally conceived as constructivist, ties in with peer learning). Needs to wait until there’s some areas of high interest.
How is it organised?
See manifesto above and Squaring the Circle below.
